TECH STAR TUESDAY: Jason Feder — Mastering Contrast in Live Production!

This week on Tech Star Tuesday, we’re highlighting Jason Feder, based out of St. Petersburg, Florida. With over a decade in the industry, Jason continues to grow his skill set and expand his role in live production.

Right from the start, his path was driven by experience and opportunity.

“13 plus. Owning a production company and meeting Brooks, it made sense to expand my repertoire of production skills.”

Because of that, he stepped further into the world of lasers and live events.

Moments That Stand Out

Along the way, certain experiences have left a lasting impact.

“I suppose helping with Hulaween installs and Spirit Lake deployments were some of my favorite laser gigs.”

These types of events bring creativity and scale together. And at the same time, they challenge technicians to adapt and perform in dynamic environments.

Responsibility in the Moment

When the show is live, the focus becomes clear.

“Keeping the audience safe and entertained for the duration of the show.”

Safety comes first. Then, the experience follows. Balancing both is key to a successful production.

Advice That Makes a Difference

For those coming up in the industry, Jason offers insight that comes from experience.

“Contrast is key. While busking live as part of a larger production, not flooding the airspace with constant content creates contrast, making the lasers more of an anticipated feature.”

In other words, less can be more. Timing matters. And knowing when to hold back can make each moment stronger.

Recent Work

Most recently, Jason worked on “The Divine Freaks” show at Coastal Creative in St. Petersburg. A unique environment. A creative space. And another opportunity to bring visuals and music together.

From production to lasers, Jason Feder continues to build his path with intention. With each show, he brings experience, awareness, and a thoughtful approach to the craft.

And that’s what keeps the work evolving.
