What a way to start the year! From January 10th to the 14th, fans gathered for Closer to the Sun — a four‑night, all‑inclusive music celebration hosted by Slightly Stoopid in Riviera Maya, Mexico. ☀️🇲🇽 This beachfront event mixes epic concerts with tropical views, making it feel more like a music vacation than just a festival.
Right from the first set, the atmosphere was electric. The music pulsed from afternoon through late night. Sunsets on the beach. Beats in the courtyard. Even after hours and in between, artists kept the energy high with performances that made every moment count.
A Lineup That Kept Everyone Moving
This year’s Closer to the Sun brought a diverse mix of talent. Alongside headliner Slightly Stoopid, the stage saw performances by:
- Rebelution
- Dirty Heads
- Pepper
- The Elovaters
- HIRIE
- DENM
- Little Stranger
- Z‑Trip
- And special sets like Damian Jr. Gong & Stephen Marley “Traffic Jam” and Stephen Marley’s Old Soul Unplugged.
Each artist added a fresh vibe. Some brought deep grooves. Others lifted the crowd with high‑energy moments. Together, they created a weekend full of variety and unforgettable musical experiences.
More Than Music — A Full Experience
There were no assigned seats, giving everyone a chance to explore every corner of the party. During the day, the beach was alive with activities, and the warm Caribbean breeze made every sunset set feel even more special. At night, lights and sound filled the lawn and courtyard areas. Making it feel like one continuous celebration.
Behind the Scenes: Laser Tech on Site
On the production side, Our Laser Technician, Mitchell Blakemore was on site, equipped with 10 x 40w Kvant Club Max and 2 x 3w Kvant Club Max Lasers. Scattered through the resort, He worked throughout the event to bring tight laser visuals into the mix. His work added extra dimension to the shows and helped turn each performance into an even more immersive experience. The crowd saw more than lights. They felt the energy from beam to beat.
Memories Made in Mexico
By the final night, Closer to the Sun had done exactly what it promised — brought people together in a memorable setting, shared great music, and created a festival vibe, equal parts beach party and concert vacation.
From the seaside stages to the late‑night rhythms, everyone left with stories and memories to carry into the rest of their year.
Here’s to next time! 🌞🎶
