Meet Zack Alayra, a laser technician who splits his time between Los Angeles, California, and Las Vegas, Nevada. With five years in the industry, Zack has already built an impressive path while keeping his focus on passion and growth.
Finding His Way into the Industry
Zack never wanted the average desk job. Instead, he searched for something creative. “Been in the industry for about 5 years. Wanted to do something different than the average desk job. The moment I decided to become an LD/Laserist is when I saw my first concert that was Queen in 2019, seeing the consoles at FOH is what struck me to want to get into it.” That spark turned into a career.
Highlights Along the Journey
Over the years, Zack has built moments he’s especially proud of. “Probably getting to do programming at Coachella. Teched at most of the stages there, but getting to design in the Sahara tent was a blast and looking forward to coming back this next year.” From legendary festivals to world-class stages, his work continues to evolve.
Responsibilities on Site
When it comes to working live, Zack doesn’t hesitate about his top priority. “Safety. Always safety, with monitoring from the location of the units, to the termination points.” For him, the show’s success starts with responsibility.
Advice for Future Techs
Zack also has a line of wisdom for those looking to join the industry. “Not to be afraid to ask questions. I still learn something new everyday, and I don’t think I’d ever stop learning.” His words highlight the importance of curiosity and growth in such a fast-moving field.
Recent Work
Most recently, Zack was part of Blackpink’s Deadline Tour, adding another major event to his growing resume. With big stages behind him and more opportunities ahead, his story continues to evolve!
