Every concert, festival, and special event depends on a dedicated team working behind the scenes. This week, on Tech Star Tuesday we’re introducing Chris Jackson, better known as CJ Mad Groovy. Based in California, the San Francisco Bay Area- San Diego. Chris has actively supported productions and although he’s one of the newer members of the Laser Light Company team, he’s already making an impact.
For Chris, the job is about more than lasers. It’s about being part of live music and learning from every production.
Finding His Place Behind the Lasers
When asked what drew him to the industry, Chris shared:
“Just getting started less than 1 year. To get closer to the music, main stages and stack knowledge.”
That passion has already taken him to some incredible events while giving him the chance to work alongside experienced technicians.
A Performance That Stands Out
Every technician has a show they’ll never forget. For Chris, one event currently rises above the rest.
“Field of Dreamz Festival at Petco Park – having the best set.”

That commitment helps every show run smoothly while giving audiences and clients the experience they came for.
Advice for the Next Generation
Working in live production takes preparation, and for that, his one tip for anyone interested in the field is simple:
“Warm up and stretch before and after shifts.”
It’s easy advice to overlook, but it can make a big difference during long production days.
What’s Next?
He recently joined the team for The Elovaters’ Shark Summer Tour, adding another exciting live production to his growing list of experiences.
