Laser performances are not allowed until the venue has been approved by the Fire Marshal’s Office in accordance with City of
Portland Code Title 31.40.020A(11). Violation of the permit requirements or conditions of use may result in a citation,
revocation of permit, or termination of the laser display.
Requirements for Laser Performance Venue Permit:
A. The permit application must include:
1. Documentation demonstrating that all required federal approval and variances applicable to the laser equipment and
display have been obtained.
2. Site information sufficient for the Fire Marshal’s Office to evaluate the proposed laser display.
B. Applications must be received 21 calendar days prior to the scheduled performance date to allow for plan review and site
inspection when required. Applications received after this deadline may be charged a double fee or denied.
C. The Laer Performance Venue Permit is issued on a calendar year basis unless otherwise specified by the Fire Marshal’s Office.
D. The venue or event coordinator must maintain a current log of all laser performances conducted under the permit, including:
1. Date of performance
2. Start and end time of display
3. Laser operator name and associated FDA variance number
4. Laser manufacture, model number, and classification
5. Company associated with the laser equipment
6. Name of laser operators present during operation
7. Any operational issues or safety concerns during the display
The log must be available for review by Portland Fire & Rescue upon request

This permit may be revoked for failure to comply with the Conditions of Use or for due cause by authorized Fire Officer or Inspector of
Portland Fire & Rescue.
