One Color, One Important Message: The Power of Pink!

October began with a powerful show of support in Cedar Rapids. Mercy Medical Center’s Hall-Perrine Cancer Center hosted Power of Pink, bringing the community together as Breast Cancer Awareness Month got underway.

Pink was everywhere.

But behind the color was an important purpose: raising awareness, encouraging early detection, and showing support for people affected by breast cancer.

Starting October Together

Power of Pink gave Cedar Rapids a place to come together for a cause that touches countless families.

The community event included music, refreshments, and activities connected to breast cancer awareness. Guests were encouraged to wear pink and join in the evening.

Meanwhile, the Hall-Perrine Cancer Center became part of the experience itself.

As daylight faded, the building began taking on a completely different look.

Turning the Cancer Center Into a Canvas

For the evening, laser graphics and lighting were used to carry the Power of Pink theme across the setting.

Brian Johnson handled the laser production with four 10-watt lasers, creating graphics and colorful looks designed specifically for the event.

The familiar pink ribbon appeared within the presentation, along with other visuals that complemented the building and helped reinforce the evening’s message.

Rather than feeling like a traditional laser show, the production worked as part of the environment.

The cancer center itself became the canvas.

More Than a Change of Color

That visual transformation gave Power of Pink another way to get people talking.

Some guests came to support someone they love. Others may have had their own connection. And for some, the evening served as an important reminder about screenings and early detection.

The lighting couldn’t tell all of those stories.

However, it could help create a setting where they were recognized.

For one evening in Cedar Rapids, Hall-Perrine Cancer Center wore pink with the community it serves.
