Kennywood is known for its thrilling roller coasters, but on October 24th, 2026, visitors had another reason to look up!
The amusement park in West Mifflin, Pennsylvania, featured a drone show with an exciting addition: professional laser effects. Laser technician Zachary Freeman helped bring the production to life using four 60W KVANT XR projectors.
A Different Kind of Kennywood Attraction
For generations, Kennywood has welcomed guests looking for a day of rides, games, and entertainment.
This event offered something beyond the park’s familiar attractions.
Drone shows use illuminated aircraft to form patterns and images overhead. Meanwhile, laser systems can introduce colorful beams and precise effects from the ground.
It’s an interesting combination, especially at a venue where creativity is already part of the experience.
Zachary Freeman Behind the Controls
Producing laser effects for an outdoor event requires more than powerful equipment.
Zachary’s role involved operating the projectors while accounting for the production environment. With high-powered systems, safe beam placement and careful coordination are essential.
The KVANT XR equipment is designed for professional applications, making it suitable for productions that require substantial output and precise control.
A New Way to Enjoy Kennywood
Amusement parks continue to explore new ways to entertain their visitors, and special presentations offer a chance to try something outside the usual lineup.
For Laser Light Company, it was another opportunity to showcase how professional laser technology can contribute to unique live events.
