Hog August Bites Brings BBQ, Music, Cars, and Lasers to Rio Vista!

Good food, live music, cool cars, and plenty to see. The 12th Annual Hog August Bites had all the ingredients for a fun day in Rio Vista, California, on August 22, 2026.

The community came ready to enjoy the Rib & Chili Cook-off, browse local vendors, and check out the car show. Meanwhile, live music kept things moving across two stages. Then, as the day turned into evening, lasers added a splash of color to the celebration.

A Full Day of Food, Music, and Fun

There was plenty happening around every corner.

Guests could sample competition-worthy ribs and chili before making their way through the vendor area. Car enthusiasts had something to enjoy, too. Plus, with two stages of music, finding a new sound was never far away.

As the evening continued, the atmosphere began to change. That’s when the laser entertainment joined the fun.

Turning Up the Color After Dark

The production featured four 10-watt lasers, creating colorful effects that complemented the live performances.

Rather than following a pre-programmed show, the lasers were controlled through live busking. This allowed the visuals to follow the music and change as each performance unfolded.

One song could bring a smooth look across the stage. Then, the next could shift the mood with something completely different.

Nathan Ray King Takes the Controls

Laser Technician Nathan Ray King was in charge of the laser production.

As the music played, Nathan worked from behind the controls to bring the visual side of the evening together. Each cue added something extra to the atmosphere while allowing the bands and performers to remain front and center.

A Rio Vista Tradition with Plenty of Flavor

Hog August Bites is the kind of event where you don’t have to choose just one thing to do. Come hungry. Listen to some music. Walk through the car show. Browse the vendors. Then, stick around as the evening takes on a more colorful look.

From the smell of BBQ in the air to live music across two stages, the day offered something for all ages. And once the sun went down, the lasers gave Rio Vista one more reason to keep the fun going.
